Meta recently added several new features to its Instagram Reels to help influencers find inspiration through trending audio, hashtags and topics. Available only on the Instagram mobile app and through professional accounts, Reels Trends help creators stay on top of trending content.

What is Instagram Reels Trends?

Reels Trends helps creators track and leverage trends on the channel. From the Professional Dashboard, creators can see which Reels are popular and look specifically at trending audio and hashtags. With this information, influencers can ensure their posts are relevant and easy to find.

How do you access Reels Trends?

  1. Select the Professional Dashboard action button on your profile and select Reels Trends.
  2. Select the Audio or Hashtags tab.

From here, you can see trending hashtags, which audio tracks are popular, and even save a track to use for your next Reel. Here’s a snapshot that Meta shared to explain the feature.

How do influencers use this information to create content? Influencers review the curated list of trending audio and hashtags for inspiration. It can serve as a starting point. Creators see what’s trending and think about ways to leverage popular audio or hashtags in their content.

Here’s a look at influencer-created content that was inspired by Reels Trends:

Barbie (#Barbie or #BarbieCore)

Audio: Soundtrack from “Barbie”

With the “Barbie” movie hitting theaters on July 21, 2023, it’s no surprise that the pink-loving doll inspired lots of Instagram Reels trends. From pink furniture and clothing to decor and accessories, the Barbie core aesthetic is turning up everywhere.

Check out @Daniela Aita’s video from the movie premiere, which she shared with her 277K Instagram followers.

Levitating (#Levitating)

Audio: Dua Lipa’s “Levitating”

Dua Lipa’s song “Levitating” has a catchy beat, and influencers are using it behind clips of things that make them uber-happy. Content creators can use it to increase engagement and bring energy to any video promoting something: any product, store, or concoction they love.

Never Too Much

Audio: Krishan Singh’s “Never Too Much Remix”

With nods to Disco, this funky and playful song has turned up in plenty of Instagram Reels to build excitement or simply showcase a happy-go-lucky mood. The song works well for promoting upbeat destination sites, indulgent products or services (think spas or poolside drink service), or over-the-top fashion.

Hear the song in this post by micro-influencer Christine Elizabeth promoting a new oceanfront water park in New Jersey.

Apple Pay (#applepay$)

Audio: The Apple Pay ding

Influencers promoting a product can use this audio trend to showcase a variety of product images, being purposeful in providing a call to action with links to purchase the items.

Lifelong Treasure of Destiny (#lifelongtreasureofdestiny)

Audio: A snippet of moving music with spoken words taken from the TV show “How I Met Your Mother”

Instagram influencers are using this beautiful background track to build a crescendo of emotions alongside a fast-moving collage of meaningful moments from their life or someone they love.

Listen and watch for yourself in this video montage from micro-influencer Costanza Nmr, who shared a compilation of moments with her friends and loved ones with her 29.2K Instagram followers.

I Really Love Earth

Audio: Influencer Josh Jaramillio’s clip about love for the earth

Influencers are using this spoken-word clip to showcase their beautiful views of nature, whether it’s a seaside sunset or expansive forests, or a mix of different images or clips. The clip would work well for travel companies, destination brands, eco-conscious companies, or outdoor gear.

Get inspiration from nano Instagram influencer @Gallivanting_Gloria who shared this video—accompanied by the audio—to promote the natural waterfalls and pools on the Isle of Skye.

Do It With Pizzazz (#pizzazz)

Audio: “Pizzazz” by Akintoye

“If I’m gonna be sad, I’m gonna do it with pizzazz” are the lyrics that inspired a plethora of videos showing people exhibiting confidence regardless of the task or situation they’re in.

Want to see an example? Check out @crossfitmagni’s clip in which the personal trainer and entrepreneur used the song as background for his video demonstrating seven progressions for the shoulder tap for his 38.5K Instagram followers.

I Gotta See Her (#Igottaseeher)

Audio: “Mrs. Right” by Mindless Behavior

With lyrics that include “I gotta see her,” this song has inspired influencers to create clips with a mix of lip-synching and text overlay. The general template for this trend is to tease that the content creator has found someone (or something) with impressive or shocking physical characteristics or personality traits.

Try your hand at using any of the trending audio on Instagram to make your Reel stand out. Just pour your creativity into the visuals to match, add your hashtags, credits, and call to action, and you’ll be posting trending Reels in no time.
