Just Because You Build It Doesn’t Mean They’ll Come

You’ve started a blog. You think it’s got some pretty rockin’ content; something people will enjoy reading. But just because you have all that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get an audience. This shouldn’t be new information, as we’ve talked about the importance of marketing, branding and networking yourself many, many times before (here’s one example, for instance).

“Good Morning America” contributor and friend to IZEA* Tory Johnson attended BlogWorld Expo in Las Vegas last month, and put together this great piece on how a blogger can truly make money. (Tory did interview Ted while at BlogWorld but unfortunately his piece didn’t make the final edit.)

So this begs the question, are you doing all you can to build your blogging business? If you want to be successful in the social media space and start earning some decent cash, you have to put forth time and energy to make it happen! You won’t simply have people knocking on your front door (well, not literally because that would be super creepy and stalker-ish!).

* You may also recall Tory’s chat with Ted earlier this year, about Sponsored Tweets.
