The average household spent $770 on their pets in 2021, up from $460 in 2013. As more people adopt dogs, cats, birds, and fish, the demand for pet-friendly products grows. Owners aren’t just looking for staples like food and leashes, they’re looking for novelty items too, like Halloween costumes and inflatable dog dryers (it’s a real thing). If you’re part of a marketing team for a pet brand, consider working with influencers to promote your products in a fun, authentic way. Need some inspiration? Take a look at these pet-friendly influencer campaign ideas:

Pet influencer marketing ideas

Offer care or training tips

Partner with an influencer who can offer tips to care for or train animals. Your product will dictate what kind of influencer you work with. For example, if your brand sells dog grooming tools, you could team up with a pet stylist. That’s exactly what Colin Taylor Products did. The company sells scissors and brushes for dog grooming and teamed up with dog stylist Emma Rose Darlington for this fur-trimming tutorial:

You can find influencers to fit any pet niche, too, not just cats and dogs. You can find horse trainers and even fish sitters on Instagram that you could partner with.

In our partnership with Nylabone, creators showed how Nylabone chew toys helped pets who were adapting to owners who had to head back to the office.

Share travel advice

Can your brand or product help pet owners travel with their furry friends? Whether you sell airline-approved dog crates or run a pet-friendly bed and breakfast, you can lean on influencers to offer travel advice.

What kind of influencer should you look for? It depends on your brand, but a pet-friendly travel influencer could work. Maybe there’s a couple touring the U.S. in an RV with their French Bulldog that you could team up with or a jetting-setting traveler whose pet lizard is always in tow.

Here’s a great snap of an influencer visiting Italy with her two dogs, where she endorses two products:

Here’s a great collaboration between travel influencers and a pet-friendly resort in India:

Support animal shelters

As a brand, consider supporting worthwhile pet causes, like your local humane society or a shelter. You could team up with an influencer to drive donations, encourage people to volunteer or make donations to shelters when purchases are made.

Look at this collaboration between a pet brand and a pet influencer whose Instagram account focuses on an English Mastiff named Bowie. The influencer touts the company’s product but also its mission to donate food to pets in need with every purchase.

Create a gift guide

When the holidays roll around, most pet owners add their dog, cat, horse, or fish to their shopping list. This year, be prepared by asking a pet-friendly influencer to add your product to a holiday gift guide.

Influencers often put together a video of their top ten (or so) favorite gifts that center on their niche, and pet influencers are no different.

Look at this video gift guide created by pet influencer Rachel Fusaro, a YouTuber’s most common hashtag is #SaveAllTheDamnDogs.

Suggest a pet routine

Pets thrive on schedules just like children, so consider working with a pet influencer to share what a daily routine should be like. How can your product or service aid in this routine?

A routine benefits people with more than one pet too. If your brand offers a variety of pet care products, teaming up with an influencer who regularly cares for multiple pets is a good way to endorse your products while explaining how to set up a routine that works.

Victoria Raechel, a proud pet mom of rabbits, hamsters, and cats, shared this pet care routine that could offer some inspiration:

Focus on pet safety

A lot of pet owners understand basic pet care, but they may not know what can harm their pets. As a pet brand, partner with an influencer to offer pet safety tips. You can launch this kind of campaign anytime, but you could also plan it in October during National Animal Safety and Protection Month.

During the campaign, offer advice on everything from protecting pets from the heat, like RV influencer Amber Baldwin provides in this clip:

You could focus on things like how to safely trailer a horse, whether or not dog harnesses are safe, and which insecticides to use on your lawn.

Of course, the safety tips should connect with a product or service that your brand offers too.

With these campaign ideas in mind, you can search for content creators. To start, look at this list of pet influencers and go to The Marketplace to search for influencers who can help you promote your pet-tastic products.
