Artificial Intelligence has found a place in marketing. According to HubSpot, 90 percent of marketers say AI automation helps them spend less time on manual tasks, giving them more time to prioritize their daily needs.

What are marketers using AI for? The same report shows the most common applications of AI in marketing are:

  • Chatbots: 53%
  • Text generation: 44%
  • Visual creation: 44%

AI marketing trends this year

These common uses of AI correlate to the trends marketers are seeing in the industry. Brands are turning to AI to leverage chatbots, write content, and produce videos. More specifically, here’s how AI trends will likely alter the daily routines of marketing teams:

Chatbots will help with marketing efforts

Chatbots are commonly used as digital customer service agents. They can answer customer requests, facilitate product returns or check account balances. Brands will likely supercharge chatbots, allowing them to complete marketing tasks as they interact with customers.

Rather than answering simply customer requests, AI-powered chatbots can make product suggestions, reply to comments, suggest branded content to read, or ask for a customer’s contact information to send resources or schedule demos. With these additions, AI aids in content distribution and lead generation.

AI will help with video creation

While many consumer-friendly video tools exist, AI can save time and costs through video production. With the right tools, AI can write scripts, generate avatar hosts, and edit clips. For example, FormAI’s Talking Portraits feature turns text and images into videos. Certain tools can analyze raw footage and cut it for you.

More marketers will likely adopt AI video creation, but what kinds of videos will they produce?

Research shows that 52% of marketers use video marketing as a product education tool, but webinars, social media clips, and customer testimonials also top the list of video needs, according to Wistia

Marketers will get advertising help from AI

Between identifying the platforms you want to advertise on and selecting keywords to generating creative and monitoring metrics, it’s a time-consuming, multi-step process.

AI platforms are already streamlining the process by writing headlines, generating dozens of creatives to choose from, and selecting keywords.

Expect AI to write more (short) text

AI has the power to write entire articles, but there are limitations. For starters, AI pulls its information from online sources, which means it could pull from unreliable sources that impact the quality of your content. Some articles lack depth and only provide cursory information. Some need more formatting and clarity.

Research shows 96% of the time, AI-generated content is not ready to publish on its own. With statistics like this, how are marketers using AI to write text?

Despite challenges, marketers will strategically use AI to generate smaller pieces of content like social media posts, short articles for a company newsletter, or copy for a promotional email. AI’s content creation sweet spot seems to be short, snappy pieces of text.

AI will ease content planning

Content creation requires a lot of planning. From brainstorming ideas and outlining articles to assigning freelance writers and measuring the success of various topics, marketers can spend hours planning content.

Again, AI tools will come to the aid of marketers. With AI platforms, you can input your industry, target audience, and general topic and receive a list of possible blog titles. Don’t like the ideas you received? Revise the prompts you provided to see a new list of ideas. FormAI’s chat feature provides access to OpenAI’s GPT-4, making it easy to regenerate or rephrase results to get more precise outcomes.

With a list of ideas to work from, you can ask AI to provide outlines for specific articles or ask it to suggest keywords to go with a particular title.

Before you assign the article, ask AI to provide a list of existing content to see what’s already out there and how you can do it better.

AI will elevate influencer campaigns

Influencers can encourage followers to take action. With authentic endorsements, influencers give brands a way to promote products, drive brand awareness, and boost sales. Collaborations are effective, but, as with any campaign, they require time and money.

AI tools like FormAI will help marketers streamline partnerships by crafting text for social posts and scripts for videos, generating images for the campaign, or creating videos. FormAI Mixers will allow influencers to train models of faces, items and styles to easily create AI versions of themselves. This will open up new sponsorship opportunities for both brands and creators, as brands could also train AI models of their products.

Over the next few years, additional trends will emerge. AI is still in its infancy, which means its uses will grow and evolve, as will the platforms that provide AI-powered features for marketers. As applications increase, marketers must identify the best ways to leverage AI while considering its risks. Marketers are rightfully concerned about overreliance, bias or false content serving as sources and disclosure of AI-created content. Before AI takes its place on your marketing team, talk about its uses, best practices, and ways to identify and fix problems that could arise.
