It was only a matter of time before artificial intelligence entered virtual influencer marketing. Creating fictional personas with graphics so advanced that some AI influencers are mistaken for humans, these increasingly popular promoters are already flipping the script on social media marketing. Are audiences keen on the idea of AI influencers? It seems so. Consider that in a 2002 survey, 58% of respondents said they follow at least one virtual influencer, and more than one in three admitted to purchasing a product promoted by a digital influencer. Suppose you’ve been tasked with creating campaigns for influencer marketing and would like to learn more about AI and influencer marketing. In that case, we’ve compiled a list of some top digital personalities to inspire you and where you’re most likely to find them online.

10 AI influencers on social media

Miquela Sousa

Known by her fans as “Lil Miquela,” this 19-year-old Brazilian-American model, singer, and entertainer is one of the most popular virtual influencers around the globe. A project of tech company Brud Studio, she’s partnered with Prada, Samsung, and Calvin Klein, the latter ad of which saw her kissing human model Bella Hadid. Miquela’s YouTube channel, which has amassed 278K subscribers, features a range of content, including official music videos, reactions to covers of her songs, and plenty of jokes about whether other celebrities are human or robot.

Ion Gottlich

Italian track-cyclist cartoon Ion Gottlich has been compared to the “Incredible Hulk in spandex.” Created by South African animator Claudio Pavan as a mashup of cycling personalities he’s met on his rides, Ion posts about popular bike races, like the Tour De France, real-life cyclists, and his own attempts to ride.

You’ll find her posing with other digital models and promoting brands like Lexus, Ferragamo, and Louboutin.
