We’re celebrating IZEA dads by sharing some of their experiences as parents in a modern remote workplace.

Ryan Schram, President, COO

“As the dad of a middle-schooler and a third-grader, I enjoy being a part of a company like IZEA that embraces all of the potential of a modern, remote workplace because it has completely changed the way I am involved in my kids’ lives. Instead of sitting in traffic for hours, I can share breakfast and take my boys to the bus stop in the morning on their way to school. If there’s an evening event — like my younger son’s mountain bike team practice — I can structure my work day to be present and engaged at those things, as opposed to worrying about only being measured on if I am a “warm body in a chair” from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.”

“Moreover, I have taken inventory of the fact that outcomes matter most in all facets of life — personal and professional. By working at IZEA, which measures me in the positive outcomes I help to affect, it has also promoted the value of the other portion of my life: the priceless outcomes of being a more engaged parent.”

Aaron Rice, Associate Director, Client Services

“Working for IZEA and being remote has been a game-changer, especially during COVID. I’ve been able to stay on top of my work responsibilities even when we’ve needed to keep the kids home from school. Working remotely does have its highs and lows, but I’ve always felt support from IZEA and my team leaders when life’s challenges occur.”

“My wife is currently pregnant with our third, and the recently-announced maternity and paternity policy will be a huge blessing when the new baby arrives. I’ll be able to help much more with the baby and our older kids to ease transitions.”

Christopher Craig, Motion Graphics Designer

“Working remotely is great. I get to cut my commute down, which means I can spend more time in the morning with the kids, making breakfast and getting them ready. I am home when they get home from school. I’m always here when they are sick or need to stay home. They can hang out with me while I work if that needs to happen. It has been nothing but positive for the kids.”

Alex Stevenson, Manager, Systems Administration and Operations

“Working remotely allows me to make pancakes for my son every morning and saves me the stress of having to commute to an office on a daily basis.”
