The fusion of artificial intelligence and influencer marketing is bringing about the rise of AI influencer clones, or AI versions of influencers. AI portrait generators are gaining traction as creators look to make digital versions of themselves. This intriguing intersection of technology and marketing is reshaping the way brands collaborate with influencers.

It’s becoming increasingly essential for brands and influencers to incorporate AI into their marketing strategies to stay ahead of the curve. Influencer AI clones might sound like a sci-fi term, but they’ve become real as creators have started to use AI to create train models that can copy the style, voice, or image of themselves. They often name these AI clones, too. 

As IZEA CEO Ted Murphy has predicted, brands and creators could soon embrace what he calls Generative Sponsorship, where they share AI models of the creators or products to enhance collaboration.

Why create AI clone influencers? 

According to the Guardian, Chinese influencers, or key opinion leaders (KOLs) have been using AI to pump out more content and earn more money. 

In the U.S., Arizona influencer Caryn Marjorie worked with a company to create an AI version of herself called CarynAI that would then chat with followers for $1 per minute, according to the LA Times. The creator went on to launch another similar project, generating thousands of dollars per day, the Times reported.

While some creators and social media users have expressed concern about authenticity and transparency, the use of AI clone influencers appears to be increasing. Here are some of the benefits of generating an AI clone:

One of the biggest pros of using AI clone influencers is that it allows brands and influencers to connect with their audiences like never before. Many celebrities and influencers have millions of fans who are excited to chat with these AI versions of them. 

In the case of Caryn Marjorie cited in the LA Times, the AI chatbot version of the influencer allows fans to essentially go on a date with her. The experience was so personalized that if the user was rude to her, she could digitally break up with them. 

The fact that thousands of fans are engaging with the chatbot shows there’s demand for this type of experience. 

Scalability

AI can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, making brand collaborations and fan interactions more manageable. When creators form AI versions of themselves, they open the door to new opportunities to work with brands more often or engage with thousands of fans at the same time. 

AI clone influencers mimic the creator but often do not involve their direct participation, which allows them to continue with their daily lives with minimal time commitment beyond the training of the model. 

Using an AI version of themselves allows them to connect with new audiences while keeping their current fans engaged, too. For example, Kendall Jenner has an AI clone named Billie. 

Cost-effectiveness

Working with an AI clone is relatively cost-friendly for brands, and for creators, using one can lead to more income by allowing more brand deals. Another additional factor to consider is that brands have control of the creative aspects during a generative sponsorship, which means fewer content revisions.

Consistency

One of the biggest challenges influencers face is maintaining consistency. This includes keeping a steady posting schedule, responding to fans, and producing high-quality content regularly. However, everyone needs a break sometimes, and that’s where an AI version of an influencer can step in. An AI clone can continue to generate and post content in the influencer’s unique style, even when the influencer takes a well-deserved break and is busy with other commitments. This ensures the influencer’s online presence remains consistent, keeping fans satisfied. It’s like having a digital double that keeps the influencer’s brand alive and active 24/7.

Longevity is a significant concern in the influencer industry. However, an AI version of an influencer can add a layer of durability to their brand.
