How Brands and Influencers Are Doing the Silent Review Trend

Is it possible to review a product without saying a word? Lately, TikTok users have been showing that the answer is yes. Videos in the silent review trend show influencers and other social media users giving their reviews of products without speaking. They use facial expressions, hand gestures and other non-verbal reactions to convey their feelings toward a product.

First, let’s look at examples of influencers who have taken to TikTok to showcase their opinions about brands and products. In this video, beauty influencer Mei (@meitham) shares lip products she likes and doesn’t like with viewers.

Why are silent reviews impactful?

Non-verbal communication can sometimes be more powerful and engaging than verbal communication. Silent reviews show this. 

These videos drive engagement because viewers are compelled to stop scrolling, watch, and comment. Many viewers comment about whether they agree and often appreciate when the creator effectively communicates their opinions.

How to take part in the silent review trend

Brands can jump on this trend in several ways. One way to do this is to comment on silent reviews of their products. Cosmetics brand Saie did so in this silent review by beauty influencer Gabriella (@gabriellarongstad).

Brands can also work with influencers to share their latest product lines and have the influencer share their silent thoughts on each item in the collection.

Mini Brands recently took part in the trend by silent reviewing mini books in its product line.

Creators of any niche can also participate in the silent review trend. Some of the most well-known lifestyle, beauty, and fashion creators are using the trend to directly influence their followers and viewers to purchase products and here’s how they are doing it.
