6 NFT Influencer Marketing Tips to Leverage

Is your brand looking for a way to market an NFT? Rather than drum up support for your brand’s upcoming NFT release on your own, consider crafting an NFT influencer marketing strategy to increase brand awareness and highlight its exclusivity. 

What are NFTs again?

Before exploring NFT marketing services, specifically using influencers to promote your NFT, let’s define an NFT. 

NFTs are non-fungible tokens. They’re one-of-a-kind (or extremely rare) digital assets that are usually bought and sold via cryptocurrency. 

Budweiser, for example, created an NFT of retro digital beer cans that sold out in one hour. Adidas created an NFT to complement a new product line. Customers could buy actual Adidas gear and get a digital NFT version too. 

Tips for asking influencers to endorse your NFT

If you’re ready to partner with a creator to promote your digital assets, here are some tips to ensure the campaign is as effective as possible:

Find and vet the right influencer

As with any influencer campaign, you need to find the right creator to endorse your brand and its freshly minted NFT. Part of your NFT marketing strategy should include searching for and vetting influencers. 

You want an influencer with experience in blockchain, cryptocurrency, or NFTs. The influencer’s audience should align with your target audience, and the creator should mesh with your brand’s goals and mission statement. 

You can search for “NFT influencers” or “crypto influencers” on the social media channels that you plan to use or check out our lists of influencers in those areas on the IZEA blog. You can also run a search via an influencer marketing platform where you can search for topics related to NFTs as well as creators who mention them in their social media posts.

Gaming and tech influencers may post about NFTs, so consider them, too.

Make a short list of influencers and start doing your homework. Look at their social channels, paying special attention to his or her:

  • Knowledge and posts of NFTs
  • Quality of content
  • Engagement (via comments) with followers
  • Frequency of posts

Consider partnering with the NFT artist

Rather than commissioning an NFT from an artist and ending your relationship there, ask the artist to take the role of influencer too. Since NFTs are a bit of a novelty, followers often ask questions like, “What is NFT art?” or they’re interested in how to create an NFT. 

You could set up a live Q&A with the artist to answer these questions or ask the artist to create a series of posts that explain how an NFT comes to fruition. 

Ask a handful of influencers to review your NFT

To maximize exposure, consider teaming up with several influencers to promote your NFT. Ask each influencer to review the NFT, pointing out its features and what sets it apart from others. 

Since the world of NFT buyers is fairly small, working with multiple creators can help your NFT gain more exposure. 

Apply the correct hashtags to the campaign

Whether you work with one influencer or four, you’ll provide campaign direction, including a list of hashtags to include with the post. Hashtags make the post searchable. If someone searches “NFTs” on Instagram, you want your campaign to appear. 

Common NFT-related hashtags include: 

  • #NFTs
  • #NTF
  • #NFTart
  • #Crypto
  • #Cryptoart
  • #Digitalart
  • #NFTcommunity
  • NFTtok

Full transparency is VERY important

Influencers MUST disclose their connection to a brand and its NFT in the endorsement. It must be clearly labeled as an ad or sponsored content. 

Several big-name celebrities like Tom Brady and Jimmy Fallon were recently sued for allegedly not disclosing their involvement with a financial institution when they endorsed its NFTs.

So, before any content is published, be clear about your disclosure policy and the FTC guidelines that it stems from.

And, if you’re asking the influencer to mention any kind of pricing, auction, or giveaway, give them a link to add to their message that covers the rules. 

It’s best to include your company’s legal team in the process too, to make sure all of your legal bases are covered.
