We have so many new interns and part-time people at IZEA, making it easy to mix-up or just plain forget names the minute after meeting a new person (I’m definitely guilty of the latter, sorry guys!).

All of our full-time personnel have their own nameplates outside of their offices (they all look like V’s below), which is why the creative department thought it would be fun to have a friendly nameplate creation competition amongst all of the newbs.

The mission was simple: get crafty and create your own nameplate using whatever materials necessary. There were absolutely no limitations placed on size or design, so participants had complete creative freedom.

Last Wednesday, members from the creative department walked around and analyzed each participant’s nameplates, looking for the best of the best, while participants sat by their desks trembling with anticipation. “My stomach was in knots all day,” explained Client Dev intern James Michalak. “I have never wanted something so bad in my life.”

By 4 PM, the judges had reached a decision. Client Dev intern Courtney Holtzman’s 3D elements were just too good, earning her the winning title, as well as a $25 iTunes gift card. We’re pretty sure she has already purchased Justin Timberlake’s Winner and Queen’s We Are the Champions, and is playing them on repeat.

“Thank you to Marty and the rest of the deliberation crew for dubbing me the winner,” exclaimed Courtney. “I had a blast creating my nameplate. Each cloud represents my ‘IZEAs’ throughout the day. I used a lot of glue, some fishing wire, and a dash of nostalgia–who doesn’t love a good diorama?!”

Second place went to yours truly, now a proud owner of a $10 iTunes gift card, while James Michalak received a third place honorable mention.

Looks like a modern-day Lewis Carroll story.

Oh, James…

Congratulations, everyone, and thanks for playing!
