IZEA is continuing our tradition of giving back to families in need this year.
Adopt a Family is our annual IZEACares initiative to raise funds and donations to help families who need help during the holidays.
“Seeing the joy you are able to bring to someone else and the impact you are able to make on their lives is so rewarding. We have been so fortunate to partner with Volunteers of America and help bring a smile to these families faces this holiday season,” said Meagan Steiner, Director, Client Service Operations and one of our IZEACares volunteers.
IZEAns banded together to donate items on our two families’ wish lists or provide money to buy the items. A group of IZEAns then had a wrapping party and delivered the gifts to the families.
“Thanks to the incredible participation, we were able to order almost everything off our families’ wish lists,” said Kaila Kowalski, IZEA’s Manager, Workplace Culture & Communications.
Background on Our Families
The first family faced financial hardship after the father’s struggle with illness and skin cancer. The family was evicted in December 2021 and has been unable to get back on their feet.
“This isn’t just a difference for us this holiday season. This kindness is something that will never be forgotten and something we will carry with us the rest of our lives,” the mom said.
The second family includes a mom and her son, who was born prematurely at 1 pound, 7 ounces. The boy left the NICU in October, and his mom needs help with necessities to move into their own apartment after surviving a domestic abuse situation.
