Meet Héctor of Cryptocomix, who talks about all things crypto and NFTs on TikTok. His 214.1K followers look to him to learn about NFTs, so we asked Hector for his take on influencing in this rapidly growing space. We asked Hector about his content, the “why” behind his journey and what tips he has for others wanting to get into crypto, NFTs and content creation.

Let’s get into it. Thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do.

“I’m a second generation Latino, born in Canada with parents from El Salvador. I translate complex ideas from crypto and NFTs into simple terms for everyone to understand.”  

What do you create?

“I create explainers, tutorials and reviews on projects within crypto. I stay away from promoting meme coins and doing boring chart analysis. My content is easy to digest, understandable and simple!”

When did you get started? 

“I’ve been on TikTok for about 14 months now, but I had a ton of failed ideas before stumbling on crypto content.”

What keeps you going? 

“I love seeing crypto change people’s lives and giving them financial stability. There was a kid in my Discord who’s 14 and started with $50 a year ago; now his portfolio is worth over $60K and he’s got a job in crypto.”

NFTs are everywhere. Where’s this headed?

“It’s going to eat traditional brands. Companies that get it are moving in (Nike/Adidas/Gucci). All these household names see the potential and know the wave is coming. Like it or not NFTs are here to stay, they are NOT a trend.”

What social media platforms are you focusing on?

“TikTok and Twitter. I follow some smart devs on Twitter and other crypto analysts; it’s like reading the daily crypto news but in tweet form. TikTok is great for condensing a complex idea into 60 seconds or just meme-ifying a concept. I focus on there for content because it has the potential to go viral much more than if you were to post on Instagram or YouTube.” 

Do you have any pro tips for NFT investors just getting started? 

“Don’t invest more than you can lose. NFTs are easy to buy, but hard to sell … if you buy the wrong project you could be stuck with a silly jpeg in your wallet for months, that nobody wants. Not a fun time, lol.” 

How about pro tips for new NFT influencers? 

“Tip for content: Be useful, share tips and knowledge that other people would find helpful. If you don’t see the content you’re searching for, do it yourself! Try posting a ‘Day 1 of trying to _____’ series on anything, share in public and do it every. single. Day. Growth will come from consistency and people like content that is real.”

Do you have any goals?

“To remove the gatekeeping. I hate when people don’t show their process, journey or true process on how they got the results others are looking for. My goal is to document my projects and experiment so my followers are always learning and can see my journey. Never gatekeep; always share the knowledge.”

Do you consider yourself an influencer?

“I didn’t consider myself an influencer until I started getting emails from brand agencies wanting to hire me for videos. Then I knew that was how the internet perceived me. I don’t like the title of influencer, I see myself as more of an educator … experimenting in public.”

What else would you want to share?

“If you’re new to crypto it’s normal to feel intimidated. It’s normal to think everything is a scam. It’s normal to feel FOMO (fear of missing out) when you hear of a 12-year-old who became a bajillionaire overnight. Crypto is the greatest financial opportunity of our lifetimes. It’s not going away.”
