Welcome to our Champion the Creators interview series with influencers of all niches to highlight their journeys, share their insights and inspire! Today we are talking all about influencing with Jasmine, a beauty and lifestyle influencer.

Meet Jasmine, a Latina beauty and lifestyle influencer in Madison, Wisconsin. On Instagram and TikTok, she shares makeup tutorials, get-ready-with-mes, beauty tips, fashion inspiration, books and family moments. When the busy mom of two boys and wife is not creating inspiring content, Jasmine is also a bridal makeup artist.

Collab with Jasmine

“I definitely love everything beauty. I’m always trying to find the next best thing, whether it’s affordable or on the high end. I just love makeup so much,” she said. “But sometimes it’s OK to add a little bit of spice in there with some fashion and lifestyle content.”

On her blog, Jasmine Maria, she writes all about her lifestyle, including her favorite products, parenting, travels, haircare tips and all her beauty secrets. She also loves sharing her latest books.

Beyond makeup, Jasmine often shares affordable fashion finds.

She says being hands-on and researching helped her learn the content creator ropes since starting her website in 2015.

“Utilizing social media was a learning curve because that was pretty brand new back then,” Jasmine said. “We were just all learning how to use social media to push our content, but also advertise our business at the same time.”

Have you tried the @Color Wow Hair Dream Coat Extra Strength? Its been my go to product this summer for keeping my hair straight. As someone with curly hair this has been amazing. My hair doesnt get frizzy or curly on hot humid days. [linked in my bio] #colorwowdreamcoat #colorwowhair #curlyhairproducts #stylingproducts

Her content even brought in her first wedding makeup client years ago. A wedding planner friend knew a bride who didn’t have a makeup artist, and she asked Jasmine if she would be up for the task.

“She trusted me to do her wedding without a trial. Word of mouth and just sharing the fact that I am a wedding makeup artist on my one big platform has helped.”

Over the years, Jasmine has stayed current on trends — in beauty and on social media.

“Social media is literally constantly changing daily, I feel like, but I’ve noticed that I still get page views on my blog,” she said. “People are still constantly looking at my old posts that are very trendy. I try to add blog posts here and there, but video is basically what a lot of people just focus on. I think people are just visual learners.”

She adds that most brand sponsorships ask for videos nowadays.

“A lot of my campaigns ask for TikTok videos, which is why I focus mainly on growing over there right now,” she said. “TikTok — the algorithm is just a vibe.”

✨HONEST REVIEW✨ @Physicians Formula Butter Concealers I tried out the new concealers by PF. And I did like them. I do not love them. Here’s why ⤵️ ⭐️ not many shade ranges. They only have 6 colors! ⭐️ I got oily after a few hours even after using a matte primer, foundation, powder and setting spray. My combo skin wasn’t a fan. ⭐️ the sponge applicator wasn’t the best & it was annoying to use. Maybe a matte version needs to be made with more shade ranges. #physiciansformula #honestbeautyreviews #makeupreviews #beautyreviews #drugstoremakeup #affordablemakeup Physicians formula concealer / physicians formula butter collection / drugstore makeup look / drugstore beauty

Jasmine’s vast experience working with brands has taught her the importance of building experience and relationships.

“When I first started working with brands, obviously I did a lot of gifting,” she said. “I feel like with gifting, you do build a relationship with the brand. Eventually, they will be like, ‘OK, well maybe we do have a budget.’ But don’t give up just because you’re not getting those paid partnerships, just keep having that relationship with the brand.”

Jasmine, who has worked on IZEA campaigns, says consistency and communication pay off.

“Eventually they will have a budget and they will want to work with you. So obviously just keep that honest and open conversation with those brands, and I feel like you’re going to be getting those collabs later on.”

No matter their social media knowledge or interest, Jasmine has this advice for aspiring content creators: “Just do it.”

“You may think that your video is not worth posting, but it is because someone out there is going to find it relatable, and that is honestly how you get more of those genuine follows. Do it. Honestly, you’re going to be so happy once you do.”
