Tired of traditional influencer giveawaysIf you’re less than excited about asking influencers to give away products again, it’s time to shake things up. You can still leverage giveaways to elevate brand awareness and sales, but why not try something different? These seven influencer giveaway examples and ideas offer a fun twist to predictable social contests.

Influencer giveaway examples to inspire you

Use these ideas and examples to begin the brainstorming process.

Connect a giveaway with an obscure holiday

You can undoubtedly launch giveaways around traditional holidays like Christmas or Easter but consider iobscure holidays that correlate with your brand, like National Donut Day, Best Friends Day, or Swim a Lap Day.

On Book Lovers Day, a purse company that sells the perfect purse to hold books teamed up with a reading influencer to give away the unique handbag.

Look at this list of odd holidays to see which one fits your brand.

Coordinate a giveaway with local creators

Small businesses can benefit from influencer marketing. When promoting DART, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, influencers were asked to tweet about the giveaways happening at a Bike to Work event to incentivize attendance.

Launch a giveaway at an event

If you’re working with an influencer to attend an event or promote a product at an event, include a giveaway in the activation. When IZEA worked with Acer at IEM Dallas to promote Predator Gaming, we tasked The War Owl, a gaming influencer with live-tweeting during the event. This included promoting a prize pack giveaway.

If your audience is location-based, lean on influencers in that area. An influencer marketing platform can help you find city-specific creators to partner with.

Host a giveaway that gives back

Giveaways are a great way to promote a product and generate a buzz on social media, but a giveaway can also benefit those in need. Oral care brands Crest and Oral-B worked with Walmart to offer free dental screenings to those in need. To promote this giveaway, the brands contacted family influencer Joceline Raad, who encouraged her followers to sign up for the free educational screenings.

Team up with small-business influencers

Traditional influencer marketing pairs a content creator with a brand, but remember, influencers can take on different forms. Niche content creators can make the ideal partners.

In this campaign example, a military spouse and small business owner promoted Navy Federal Credit Union’s Black History Month initiative. While this particular campaign didn’t have a giveaway component, one could easily be incorporated.

Launch a multi-day giveaway

Create a multi-day giveaway. Most multi-day giveaways model the 12 days of Christmas, but you can customize the idea to any holiday or event. For example, you could give away ten products over 10 days on your company’s 10th anniversary or host a five-day giveaway when your brand reaches 100K followers on Instagram.

The idea works in reverse, too. Rather than a brand reaching out to influencers with a contest idea, influencers can reach out to brands and ask them to participate in their multi-day giveaway.

Get a gang of influencers together

What’s better than working with one influencer? How about a trio of influencers? While it’s not uncommon for brands to work with several influencers to promote a giveaway, it’s not common to see all of the influencers together in a promotional photo.

Get influencers together for a photoshoot. The influencers can vary in niche, from fashion influencers to beauty influencers, and in audience size, ranging from 20K followers to 366K followers. The diversity of influencers means the brand reaches new followers.

Giveaways as a useful tool, but sometimes it’s difficult to create fresh ideas. Try one of these unique giveaways, and change what you give away. Rather than a singular product, consider giving away a bundle of products, early access to a new product, or an experience. See how your audience responds to these new ideas, and if successful, add them to your arsenal of marketing campaigns.
