When you work with influencers, you can do more than ask them to endorse a product or share a demonstration. You can invite them to events too. Whether your brand has created an ambassador team or works with a handful of influencers on occasion, consider adding influencer events to your campaign strategy.
Need some ideas? Here’s a look at five influencer events, each of which you can tailor to your brand’s needs, budget, and resources.
Try a low-key brunch
If you’re looking for a simple event, consider inviting influencers to brunch.
If your influencers are local, pick a nearby restaurant where you can all meet for a bite and a little networking. With a quick call to make a reservation and a digital invitation sent out, you can get influencers together and chat about upcoming brand projects.
If you want to up the ante, consider renting a room in a restaurant and asking for a signature brunch cocktail. Create gift bags for the influencers that include your products.
You could also host brunch at your company. Off the influencers a tour and then provide a meal. Add some fun decor and have brunch catered, or you could set up a table outside and eat in the sunshine.
Host a meet and greet
If your brand has just started an ambassador program or has grown its influencer team, consider getting everyone together for a meet and greet. You can make this event as straightforward or as grand as you’d like.
You could set up an outdoor bar on the company grounds, serve lunch, and give influencers a tour of your facility, or you could rent out a rooftop bar, set up a few branded picture spots, give away free swag, and allow influencers to mingle.
Plan a product launch party
Planning to roll out a new product? Invite influencers to a launch party to help generate a buzz. While you’ll introduce the new product to the attendees and likely give them one to keep as a gift, your focus should be on creating a fun experience.
As you plan your event, think of an attention-grabbing way to welcome guests. Maybe you can add branded signage and hand out cocktails as people arrive.
Think of ways to create shareable, branded opportunities too. You want influencers to mention the event on social media, right? Set up “Instagrammable stations” in a few spots so influencers are encouraged to snap and share.
Consider adding food or an activity to the event, too.
If influencers have a good time, it translates to positive posts on social.
The makers of a 2-N-1 lip balm and floss, Lewie, hosted an influencer launch party and invited influencers and stakeholders to the event.
Open an influencer-curated pop-up
Pop-up shops get a lot of attention. Consider setting up a shop in a unique location and ask influencers to suggest products you should sell. It presents several fun content ideas. Influencers could get their followers involved in the selection process, promote the chosen products, and tour the pop-up when it opens.
Or, you can open the pop-up and invite influencers to stop by. Chanel did just that. It opened a pop-up in NYC and asked fashion and luxury influencers to check out the store. Makeup artist and influencer Amina Muaref shared this experience on Instagram.
Host a team-building event
If you have a team of ambassadors and you’d like to see them interact and collaborate, host a team-building event. While these events are more common for corporate audiences, the growth of influencer marketing has many brands investing in long-term relationships with creators.
You could host a murder mystery night and ask influencers to solve the case. Invite influencers to a local obstacle course, ask them to go on a city-wide scavenger hunt, or host a paint-n-sip night inside your breakroom. You can plan these activities yourself or reach out to corporate team-building vendors who can put them together for you.
Influencer events give brands a chance to build relationships with creators while generating promotional content. While influencer events require time and money, the effectiveness of content collaborations is a worthy investment for most brands.
