Celiac disease is a serious autoimmune disease that occurs in genetically predisposed people. While gluten-free diets have become a health fad in recent years, they are musts for those with celiac disease. Those who suffer from celiac disease are at risk of gluten damaging the small intestine. The Celiac Disease Foundation estimates that 1 in 100 people in the world has celiac disease, but it’s underdiagnosed.

Living with celiac disease means taking extra precautions to make sure food and products don’t contain gluten, which can drastically affect daily life. Celiac influencers are here to share their knowledge on ways to live healthy.

There’s a hard reality you’ll learn after getting diagnosed with an autoimmune disease…no one can do the hard work for you. No one can give you your health back…or your life back. You have to work hard and navigate through challenging times, to then, find what your “new” reality is. Your new life is going to look a lot different from you old one, but that doesn’t mean it has to sacrifice in happiness. Times will be hard, you’ll go through things most people never have to, and there will be days where you want to give up. But you have to remember that if you give up, you’re giving up on yourself and your chance at finding peace with your health & life again. And I know you’re so much stronger than that. Us autoimmune girls and guys, we never give me because we fight everyday. #fyp #celiacdisease #celiac #autoimmunedisease #celiactiktok

The next time you see someone “overreacting” about finding a new product in stores or stocking up on lots of pricy / unhealthy treats, remember you don’t know their story. 🤷‍♀️ 👉 Maybe they have celiac or food allergies, and this is a food they haven’t been able to eat safely for years (or ever!). 👉 Maybe they live somewhere else with less safe options, and they traveled for hours for this one item. 👉 Or maybe they’ve been struggling with health issues or disordered eating, and they’re finally able to eat this food again. Regardless of the exact reason, these are all also WHY it matters for NEW GLUTEN FREE products to be created, including from big brands like Oreo. 🤷‍♀️ Because it can feel terrifying to suddenly have all your fave foods taken away from you, and at least in the case of undiagnosed celiac, to be POISONING yourself with every meal without you knowing. 🤦‍♀️ And in my 10 years of being gluten free, I’ve learned how important it is to celebrate the small wins — even if every new product isn’t “healthy” or cheap. Because newly diagnosed me would’ve loved to know that one day, she’d be able to eat a texas toast again. 🤷‍♀️ And if you’re currently struggling with finding safe options or feeling terrified you’ll never enjoy food again, I hope this shows you that it can get better. 🫶 Do you also get super excited when you find a safe product you’ve never tried before? Or what has helped you love food again since going gluten free? Would love to hear. ❤️👇 #glutenfreelife #glutenfreefood #glutenfreedessert #celiac #glutenfreebread #celiacdisease #celiacdiseasestruggles #celiacs #celiacdiseaseawareness #coeliac #celiactiktok #celiachia #nogluten #foodallergyawareness #foodallergy #foodallergies
