What a fun night we had at the Ad 2 Orlando Digital Media from All Angles Panel!

Ted spoke at the event which took place on Thursday, February 21, 2013.  Joining Ted on the panel was Michael Parler, Chief Strategy Officer, Purple, Rock, Scissors, John Payne, President, Monster Media, Mark Unger, Partner/Director of Interactive, Push.

Topics focused on digital advertising. Here are some of the takeaways:

Digital ads are still being adopted. There is a disconnect between the top executives and the new digital technologies available. Execs aren’t sure of what can be done and how it can be tracked. They are still learning. And as a result we aren’t using the technology we have to it’s fullest abilities.

Target to smaller markets. While the big cities (NY, LA, etc.) will give you the eyeballs, smaller markets should be considered. You have a better chance of actually getting to the consumer as opposed to just getting views.

Use content to drive engagement. If you would have great content, the users are willing to opt-in. Content still prevails. Customers will give you information if you and give them a unique experience.

Humorous Highlights:

  • Ted inquired if the panelists would get “chipped” – implanted with a microchip. The response was mixed. Outcome: humans still not ready.
  • Two panelists excusing themselves to use the restroom. Ted, however, was in full control of his bladder.
