A former president of Olive Garden, John Caron, has joined the board of directors at social media advertising company Izea.
Before Olive Garden, Caron was a VP and general manager for Lipton Beverages at Unilever Bestfoods North America.
Caron was also a top executive for Darden Restaurants, the largest publicly traded company in the Orlando area.
Winter Park-based Izea (OTC: IZEA) is a small publicly-traded company with almost 100 employees. It raised $12 million in new investment a little over a year ago, and recently acquired a California company, eByline.
According to a news release, Caron had been on Izea’s strategic advisory board for two years. Caron is also a board member for venture capital firm venVelo.
Izea operates an online marketplace that connects brands with influential content creators on blogs and social media, such as Twitter, including celebrities.
