Today we are releasing a feature to the blogger side of the application that will greatly benefit our advertisers. When we launched the new system, our goal was to make everything as easy as possible. With this in mind, we did not require our bloggers to go through a claim process in order to prove they owned their blog. This decision has created an unfavorable condition in which the system is full of “blog” URLs that are obviously not blogs, and/or are obviously not owned by the person who registered them. Advertisers now have to search through large lists of unproductive blogs in order to find the bloggers they are looking for. For this reason, we are now going to require new blogs added to the system to go through a claim process. In keeping with our original goal of making things simple, we’ve done our best to make this process as easy as possible.
If you’re already a blogger in V4 with registered blogs, you don’t have anything to worry about. If you’ve successfully submitted a post to the system, we’ll go ahead and mark your blog as claimed for you. If however you have never successfully submitted a post to the system, we’ll be taking a look at your blog. If we think you may not be the true owner, we will mark your blog as unclaimed. No need to get upset though if we make an error – you can just log into your account and go through the claim process to reclaim the blog. Once your blog has been officially claimed, you will never have to claim it again.
Here’s an overview of the new claim process. After entering all the information you need to submit your blog to the system, you will be shown a new screen. This is where we ask you to embed a randomly generated sentence and post it on your blog. You will need to copy and paste the sentence we give you into a new post on your blog exactly as it is given, then come back to your V4 PPP account and press the claim button. We’ll systematically check your blog to see if the claim sentence is present. If the sentence is there, you’ll be good to go.
If your blog gets mistakenly marked unclaimed, you will have to go through the claim process. You will be able to do so from the blog list under your my account tab. The status of your blog will be displayed, and if it is unclaimed you will see a link to “claim now”.
If you run into any problems with these new features or maybe you just want to stop by and say hi, make sure to click on the little feedback tab on the right hand side of your account. We’ll be here to listen and provide support!
