Did you read my last post?  Why not?  Well, go read it, it’s fun.

Now I can start off with my original lead-in:  As you can see, we come across a lot of blogs in our day.  Detailed blogs, sparse blogs, magazine-template blogs, standard-template blogs, blogs with florescent green writing over black (ACK!!), blogs with light grey writing over white (WHAT!?), etc etc.  And, as you saw in yesterday’s post, blogs that can be a very basic black and white.

Is there anything wrong with black and white?  Nope!  There is something wrong with acid blue and black, or yellow and white.  I’ve only got two eyes, people, and they are deteriorating, fast!  So, what better way to help fix this issue than to provide you with a Color Scheme Designer!  Color Scheme Designer and Color Wizard are two online tools you can use to assist in picking out a color palette for your blog.  So what is a “color scheme?”

Enter our good friend, Wikipedia:

In color theory, a color scheme is the choice of colors used in design for a range of media. For example, the use of a white background with black text is an example of a basic and commonly default color scheme in web design.

Color schemes are used to create style and appeal. Colors that create an aesthetic feeling when used together will commonly accompany each other in color schemes. A basic color scheme will use two colors that look appealing together. More advanced color schemes involve several colors in combination, usually based around a single color; for example, text with such colors as red, yellow, orange and light blue arranged together on a black background in a magazine article.

So there you have it: aesthetics and appeal.  And, after all, remember that when we hand-pick blogs for campaigns, we need to pick blogs that also look good.  Why is that, you ask?  Because we love to brag about you!  We absolutely love sending screenshots and links of our awesome bloggers’ awesome posts back to clients and potential advertisers.  Having an aesthetically pleasing blog will present a wonderful canvas for our advertisers, and our team- something that says, “Your product/service/site would look GREAT on this blog!”

If you’re a little overwhelmed with colors (aren’t there like 2 billion?!), then maybe a little quiz can help point you in the right direction.  Below are a few you can take to discover what color scheme best fits your personality and style!  Does your blog need a little makeover?
