Many of us here in the office are addicted to caffeine in some form. Well, maybe not addicted but big fans. No, I’ll go with addicted! So needless to say when a coffee shop opened-up on the bottom floor of our building a couple of months back we were elated. It’s called Roho and it’s a Cuban coffee shop, no less! And it’s directly on the way to the office so there’s no way of getting around it. And they have the best flavored iced tea. And…dang…see…I get excited just talking about it!
The folks who own the shop are also super nice! In fact, in exchange for a little interactive assistance from RockStars Marty and Jamie, all PPP team members get 1/2 off any beverage order! Isn’t that awesome?! Anyway, once their website is up-and-running I’ll do another post with the site url — there will be an e-commerce component to the site so you can order the Roho coffee online!
In the meantime, here’s a little bit about the coffee:
The recipes used by Roho represent generations of accumulated knowledge and perfected techniques that give our espresso drinks a distinct and unparalleled flavor and charm. Mima is Troy Lee’s (the owner) grandmother who developed most of the espresso recipes over the past 45 years by making coffee for her family and friends in Hialeah, Florida. (For those of you unfamiliar with Florida, Hialeah is down near Miami.) She worked from her home, where she would give every customer her version of a traditional Cuban espresso drink, known as a Cortadito. Mima became so well-known for her Cortaditos, people would stop by her house to visit, just to get one. Troy grew up drinking Mima’s fine coffees and took the family recipe to develope Roho’s signature drink that he lovingly named after her.
Thus, the “Mima” was born.
Here are some photos of the place:
And here is Priscilla enjoying an afternoon pick-me-up:
P.S. If you ever want to see something really hilarious, just give Ted a shot of something with caffeine in it! Wow!
