Keeping an Internet-based business running 24/7 is a challenging task daily, not just when the network is down or a site decides to crash (or your building’s transformer blows – yep, that may have happened last Friday…). No one is immune to the never ending game of chance that is technology. However, we have an unfair advantage here at IZEA. Enter Sean Reynolds, our very own Systems Director and resident Sherlock Holmes.

About Sherlock…er…Sean

Sean’s tenure at IZEA began three years ago. Prior to joining the team, Sean basically fulfilled the same role for 10 years at NetPass, a privately held Central Florida based Interactive Advertising Agency. Before that, he worked as a Vet Tech at an animal hospital in his hometown of Winter Park, FL. Sean is proof of the notion that animal lovers are good people (or crazy – the jury’s still out on that one).

At IZEA, Sean is responsible for the company’s entire infrastructure, meaning all of the computers, equipment and servers. Basically, he’s in charge of all of the technology underpinnings and behind the scenes efforts, as well as general IT support.

Keeping Our Ducks in a Row

Like we said before, both technology and the Internet tend to be unpredictable. Sometimes they’re having a good day, and sometimes they decide to act up for the fun of it. When something doesn’t work right, Sean works as quickly as humanly possible to find a solution before anyone notices there was even a problem. He is able to stay level headed through small and large scale crises alike, saving the day with the motto “Don’t screw up.” Seriously, he is a superhuman walking among us.

A Daily Puzzle

Ever watch someone try to complete a puzzle and give up halfway through? Lucky for us, Sean is not that type of person. He loves the challenges that each day brings, whether it be launching new platforms or improving existing ones. Everything to him is like a giant puzzle, and he is the detective that fits all of the pieces together.

Note the uncanny resemblance.

But it’s not all work and no play for Sean. He can regularly be seen attacking his office mates with a Nerf gun or co-plotting the next best prank. Doesn’t an office decked out in David Hasselhoff pictures sound enticing? He helped make that dream come true for one lucky IZEAn…

Fun Fact

Sean has an insatiable curiosity, especially when it comes to new music. He is a self-proclaimed obsessive collector of music and is eagerly awaiting for Google Play Music All Access to launch.

Don’t Be a Noob

Sean has a valuable tip for those seeking employment in the IT field:

  • Try to be as diverse as you possibly can. Don’t limit yourself by thinking “I only want to work with Windows” or “I only want to work with Apple.” By being fluent in all systems, you’ll open yourself up to more employment opportunities and respect within the tech community.

Even though we’re all loyal to the almighty Apple at IZEA, Sean makes sure to stay informed and up to speed on both systems. You da best, Seaniqua!
