This holiday season IZEACares is giving back by joining Volunteers of America in becoming a sponsor for two families.
About Adopt A Family
Adopt A Family partners with businesses, individuals, organizations, etc., across the country every year in an effort to grant families in need a special holiday season. “Adopting a family” consists of providing any family, senior, or veteran with items such as clothing, meals, toys, furniture, and money.
IZEACares Contribution/Partnership
Each quarter the IZEACares committee partners with organizations that are making a difference in communities nationwide through group volunteerism and charitable giving. Adopt A Family is an important initiative that allows our team and anyone else who would like to participate the opportunity to help where they’re needed most.
Background Information on Our Families
IZEACares is adopting two families located in Michigan. Both families are survivors of domestic violence in their previous households. The first family includes a single mother of two. The family left their home because of extreme violence a year ago. When they fled their house, all of their items were destroyed in a fire. The family had been living in their car until a month ago when they moved into an apartment. They have lost most of their belongings, including beds for the children and clothing.
The second family also resides in Michigan and consists of a single mother with four children. As victims of domestic violence, the family left their house in June 2021. Right before the family moved into their new house, they lost almost everything they owned in a severe flood.
Both mothers are looking to give their children a reason to smile and stay positive during this holiday season. IZEACares is hoping that the items donated can spread some holiday cheer to these families.
How You Can Help
There are two ways to lend a helping hand to the Adopt A Family initiative. The IZEACares Committee has spoken with both mothers and created a wish list of essential items as well as some holiday gift items. Our Michigan team members will be personally wrapping and delivering these items before the holiday. Here are some ways you can participate:
Donate Items or Funds
If you’re interested in sending items or funds to the families you can join us by filling out this Google Form by Dec. 3, 2021.
If you decide to donate funds, please fill out the form and we will send you the options for payment. Our committee has created a spreadsheet with links to the best deals on all items on the wish lists.
If you are interested in donating specific items, please fill out the form and we will notify you of what is still available on the wish list and you can mail the item to the address we will provide.
Once our IZEA team receives your Google Form request, you will get more information on gaining access to the families’ wish lists or sending funds!
Adopt a Family of Your Own
If you’re interested in joining Volunteers of America’s Adopt A Family initiative to serve others in need this holiday season, you can go to the Adopt A Family website to register and learn more. The program runs from early September to the end of December every year.
