On Sep 26, 2020, the White House hosted a Supreme Court nomination ceremony for Amy Coney Barrett. More than 100 people gathered in the Rose Garden to celebrate Barrett’s nomination following the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Those in attendance did not practice social distancing and only a handful wore masks. According to NPR at least 8 people who attended the ceremony have tested positive for the coronavirus. Less than a week after the ceremony President Trump flew to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to treat COVID-19 symptoms. People on social media have expressed skepticism on whether the President actually has COVID-19. Some conspiracies suggest this is just a ploy to distract the media from the President’s campaign.
