Outdoor enthusiasts need the right gear to safely enjoy their favorite hobbies. So, whether you’re into snowboarding, biking, climbing or some other outdoor activity, you’ll want to hunt down reliable reviews of the products you need. Fortunately, in-depth reviews are just a few clicks away, as long as you know where to look. The following six bloggers can help you assess outdoor gear, so you can avoid buyer’s remorse and ensure you’re only purchasing high quality equipment.

Anthony Roe

Kentucky-based photographer Anthony Roe runs the site Anthony Awaken. Roe is an outdoorsman who has been handling outdoor gear since he was child. Now he offers reviews on his regularly updated blog. If you’re thinking about buying knives, backpacks or camping and photography gear, check in with Anthony Awaken for product suggestions and gear analysis. You can also browse through his product reviews by brand, in case you already have a favorite manufacturer in mind.

Aside from reading his blog, you can also keep up with Roe on Instagram. His account, @anthonyawaken, has more than 8K followers, and he uses the platform to share pictures of recommended products.

Amy Jurries

Amy Jurries is a nature enthusiast who uses storytelling to inspire other people to begin their own outdoor adventures. That storytelling often takes the form of entries on her site, The Gear Caster. She uses the online space to offer opinions on climbing gear, bikes and snowboarding and skiing equipment. Some of her work includes posts such as “Best Bike Gear of Outdoor Retailer Winter 2020” and “Would You Trust an Inflatable Portaledge?”

Amy Jurries also joins her sister Amy on the blog Everyday Voyager. The blog focuses on travel guides, restaurant reviews and recipes. Jurries is also active on Twitter, where she has more than 9K followers, and Instagram, where she has more than 1K followers.

Tyler Benedict

Tyler Benedict is the founder of Bikerumor, a blog that covers new products and innovations that might interest biking enthusiasts. Some of his work includes “Review: 2020 Specialized Levo SL eMTB powers up big days on big trails” and “Could MIPS be getting a total makeover?” Benedict hosts the site’s podcast alongside Watts Dixon, fellow gear reviewer.

Benedict also has a podcast called The Build Cycle. In each episode he interviews business experts and entrepreneurs and offers listeners startup strategies and insights into different brands. Benedict is active on platforms such as Twitter and Instagram as well.

Stephen Regenold

Back in 2002, Stephen Regenold founded a nationally-syndicated column called GearJunkie, which he used to report on changes in the outdoor equipment industry. In 2006, that newspaper column turned into a digital publication of the same name.

Nowadays, Regenold, a former New York Times correspondent himself, has a team of writers and editors to help him keep GearJunkie operating. Some of his writing include “New GORE-TEX: Stretch and More Coming in 2020” and “Altra Vanish XC Review: Fast Off-Road Racer”

GearJunkie doesn’t just produce blog content. The site also has a YouTube channel with more than 8K subscribers.

James Biesty

When he was younger, James Biesty was an avid surfer, but he eventually developed a passion for snowboarding. Now he tests out more than 100 snowboards each year and shares his opinions via his blog, The Good Ride.

Biesty reviews boards and rates them on factors such as snow feel, flex and edge hold. Alongside the constant stream of board reviews, Biesty’s audience can also find useful information on bindings, boots, outerwear and accessories.

Biesty doesn’t maintain the blog alone. He’s joined by a team of reviewers, including Stephanie Wilkerson, Peter Sheiman and Tim Scheffer.

Jason May

Jason May and his family run MyProScooter (or MPS Active), a site that reviews scooters, skates, bikes, sleds and other kinds of outdoor equipment. The reviewers handpick products with high customer ratings, so the products aren’t just popular with the writers, but with consumers in general. They also consider factors such as consumer budget preferences and skill levels. Some examples of May’s blogs include “7 Best All Mountain Skis in 2020” and “30 Best Kick Scooters for Adults.”

MyProScooter has a presence on several social media platforms. For example, its Instagram account has more than 38K followers.

If your brand specializes in outdoor equipment, an endorsement or positive review from a trusted blogger could catapult your business into the spotlight. You could also team up with an influencer who can help you spread brand awareness via social media.

When searching for an influencer, look for someone who has shown a genuine interest in what your brand has to offer. The influencer should also share your business’ values and mission, and their follower demographics should also align with your target audience. Take your time in sorting through potential partners, and use tools like influencer marketplaces to ensure you find someone who can help your brand grow.
