About Kids Beating Cancer
Kids Beating Cancer provides access to cures through the science of cutting edge bone marrow and stem cell transplants at the Kids Beating Cancer Pediatric Transplant Center. They also provide resources and support for children with cancer, leukemia, and related life-threatening diseases and their families throughout the treatment process.
The organization was founded by Margaret Guedes 25 years ago after the death of her first-born son, John, from acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML). At that time, you could not be diagnosed anywhere in Orlando, let alone receive a bone marrow transplant. Margaret had to travel to Seattle for John’s treatment two separate times, each for 100+ days, facing life and death decisions alone while balancing the needs of John with those of his little brother who was the donor and their newborn sister. It was during this tulmeterous time that Margaret found the inspiration to begin her quest to make it possible for families in need of a bone marrow transplant for their child to have these treatments close to home, friends and family — right here in Central Florida.

Every Holiday Season IZEACares looks to partner with youth organizations to facilitate an in-office toy drive and on-site volunteering for our employees. Kids Beating Cancer is a very important organization to the affected families in the Greater Orlando Area and we knew this would be a great opportunity to help bring Holiday Joy to those who need it most. Outside of the toy drive, we had a fantastic opportunity to volunteer at the 27th Annual Festival of Lights Holiday Party Sunday on December 9th at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
