Doctors Without Borders shows us how far donations go

Working at IZEA we often work with some pretty exciting clients and on pretty incredible campaigns. We elevate the conversation brands and advertisers have with their consumers online through creators with significant influence on social media. When presented with the opportunity to work on a campaign for a client like Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), we knew the impact of this campaign would need to be significant and that we would be leveraging our influencers’ super-powers for an organization that works with some of the most vulnerable populations around the world.

The #Scalpel campaign was produced and developed through john st., MSF’s Canadian agency. The major creative piece was a video designed to tell the story of how donations directly impact the work that the organization does internationally. Working with some of the most vulnerable populations in the world, the video illustrates how far donations go, geographically and in providing essential infrastructure and supplies to the work they do in crises, conflicts, and disasters.

“Having lived in Africa, specifically working in Medical, Dental, and Public Health infrastructure development, this campaign has meant a lot to me from the beginning. I’ve followed MSF’s work for years, and was honoured to have the chance to work on this campaign. I seldom have the chance to bridge my experience in development with the work I do in advertising and marketing. It’s important for the most influential to help the most vulnerable; this is one example of how that can be done. I’m very proud of what we’ve done with john st. and MSF, and to have been part of sharing the story of the organization’s incredible work.” – Patrick Forestell is an Account Director with IZEA, Inc.

The team at MSF works independently of political, religious or military agendas, delivering medical assistance based on human need. MSF often works in difficult contexts where others are unable or unwilling to go.

Doctors Without Borders was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. Founded in France in 1971, Doctors Without Borders now has offices around the globe, including Canada. Each year, thousands of medical and other professionals work with Doctors Without Borders in more than 60 countries. Aid workers working with Doctors Without Borders include doctors, nurses, logistical experts, water and sanitation engineers and administrators. Roughly nine out of 10 field staff are hired locally.
