At the beginning of this year I sat down with the team and set a goal of having 100,000 Posties by Janaury 1, 2008. 100,000 Posties?!? At the time we only had around 11k and the growth rate didn’t indicate that was necessarily achievable. The team agreed to my seemingly unattainable goal and whispered, “this guy is crazy” under their breathe.

I am not going to say they weren’t right about the crazy part. I knew it was going to be a major undertaking and over the past year we have worked very hard at getting the word out about PayPerPost. Of course we couldn’t do it all alone. We owe a lot of our growth to our loyal Posties and Advertisers, you guys are awesome and represent the best community on the Internet.

Our good friends Michael Arrington and Jason Calacanis have also done a stellar job of driving traffic and making sure the entire blogosphere knows our name. We simply couldn’t afford that type of advertising if we had to buy it. I really need to find some time to write these guys a thank you card or send a fruit basket.

This week we crossed the 100,000 Postie threshold and I couldn’t be more excited. Not only is our community growing, it is growing faster and faster (see below).

That’s 100,000 Posties representing just about every blog platform out there and tens of thousands of unique domains. We have blogs about knitting, surfing, acting and everything in between. We’ve even got a few cats and dogs that blog (I wish my dog was that smart).

We are working hard to keep up with the demand of the ever expanding network. We have been adding additional resources, hardware and sales staff to bring on more Advertisers (12,500+ and counting).

PPP has definitely hit some bumps over the past year. We are constantly dealing with new challenges and struggles both internally and externally. But through it all we have achieved some tremendous things and I couldn’t be more proud of our team and our community.

You guys are why I do what I do and love every crazy minute of it. Let’s hope to break 250,000 Posties in 2008. Party at my house when we hit it… Colleen is buying the beer!
