    Hello, I'm in.

The most exciting St. Patrick's Day I have ever spent was when I lived in East Dallas and went to the Winedale Tavern on Lower Greenville and celebrated with REAL Irish folks! They had a parade that came right past the bar, which was a blast. We drank green beer and shots of Irish whiskey, shot pool, laughed until we cried, and the rest is pretty much a blur!

I don't really have a "wild" St. Patrick's story, but in my house in college, we drank margaritas instead of beer. Hey, it's green!

I used to run a bar on River Street in Savannah, called the Warehouse. It was definitely a bit of a dive, but on St Pattie's Day in 1995, we sold over $30k in beer an alcohol (at $1 - $5 a cup) from a bar that did well to hold 100 people. It was a literal mad house and a hell of a good time. :)
ps that was the year after they filmed the Forest Gump park scene behind our apartment, and the bar was owned by the same company that provided the box of chocolates for the movie, which my wife helped make.

This year I got laid off for St. Patricks day! Woo hoo! :(

I don't have a story. But my husband does. He use to go to school in Milwaukee WI. They would start drinking at 6 am that morning and then go to class which happened to be a lab. The teacher made them read their responses the following week. Needless to say that nobody could understand what they wrote that day!

No crazy stories here. Or if I have them, I don't remember them! But we've made nice tradition out of sharing a corned beef and cabbage dinner with family and friends.

One year I went to my favorite Irish Bar in Nashville and it was PACKED! Hardly even standing room. Anyway, I drank green beer until I didn't care that I couldn't hardly take a step without tripping over someone, and we sang Irish music with a live band all night. It was so much fun!!

  9. Anna said on 4.1.09 at 2:48 pm

St. Patrick's Day isn't all that exciting in my life. Probably the craziest thing I ever did was stop for a free green bagel on the way to work. I don't think I ate it, though, because it just looked disgusting.

  10. SANDY said on 4.1.09 at 3:27 pm

this year we made a green cake and green cream soda and a irish roast...

I lived in Chicago for 30 years. On March 17th everyone is Irish, and I mean everyone. For a number of years I bartended at a bar called O'Lanagans. Imagine the madness on St. Paddy's Day! I always worked on St. Paddy's Day - much safer behind the bar. My favorite memory includes lots of green beer, dancing on tables and not sleeping for 24 hours. But it's way too long to tell here. Use your imagination and you might come close!

  12. Colleen said on 4.1.09 at 4:23 pm

I spent an entire St. Patrick's Day in Chicago photographing friends - by the Chicago River (which you may know they dye green every year), roomies with crazy outfits, green galore - only to develop my film (yes, this was before digital cameras) a few days later to find out I had loaded it with black & white film. No green for me!

  13. Jen S. said on 4.1.09 at 5:54 pm

Nothing crazy this year. Just an easy night at home with my guy (I think we may have watched wheel of fortune). Maybe with a free T-shirt, next year can be more exciting!

  14. Mary said on 4.1.09 at 6:13 pm

Well, I am 100% Irish and we celebrated with a big pot of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes washed down wit a wee bit o' green beer!! LOL

  15. Heather in Beautiful BC said on 4.1.09 at 7:09 pm

I spent St Patrick's Day evening at the local pub and videoed some awesome Irish Dancers and drank green beer. The green food coloring made me feel really yucky the next day ;)

No really crazy stories here, but I did spend this year's at the Izea office enjoying green beer, a live show for TedTube, and some crazy rockband allstarts.

  21. Ally said on 4.2.09 at 5:53 pm

This St. Patrick's day was not too crazy. I started off bright and early with a Guinness and I blogged about a how-to Irish jig video and also about the great St. Patrick who brought the love of Jesus to hundreds... I also love the ledgend of the shamrock which St. Patick may have used to teach the Holy Trinity!

Of course I had my corned beef with my family at home and washed it down with more Guinness!

    Here's to St. Patrick!

  22. CaseyDeuce said on 4.3.09 at 12:44 am

Holla!! Nothing too crazy around here! Took the kids to the St. Patricks day parade at the next city over... yep, I'm boring. My green-beer days are over.

My craziest St. Patrick's Day had to be a couple years ago, while still attending Penn State University. See PSU students don't want to miss out on the drunken good time that is St. Patrick's Day simply because Spring Break occurs around the same time and everyone has left! So, the city of State College, PA (the PSU student population, mainly) decides every year when to have STATE Patty's Day. That's right, my college town up and moved the date of St. Patrick's Day just so we didn't miss out on drinking with friends. It's absolute insanity every year for State Patty's Day.

I made buttons for all of my kids to wear. Nothing exciting, I'm afraid.

  27. Moonduster (Becky of Skinny Dreaming) said on 4.3.09 at 10:13 am

Oh, and I made sure to wear green. LOL!

  28. sddialedin said on 4.3.09 at 10:27 am

No zany stories, just a warning: don't keep track of how many drinks you have by writing tally marks on your arm. Specifically not with a Sharpie, or you'll suffer the walk of shame for a solid two days after.

I'm a musician and i played at a St.Patrick's Day party. There were app.150 people in attendance.Everyone had a great time dancing to Irish music.

  30. RedwoodRed said on 4.3.09 at 11:25 am

Do you mean the St. Patrick's Day where the only thing I wore that had any green on it was my thong panties, because, you see, I'm a REDHEAD. REDHEADS by LAW do not - by dictate of the Irish Penultimate Shillelagh Wielders Moratorium of 1669 A.D. - have to wear green on St. Patrick's Day. They CAN, and usually do, but are not required to.
So, I was wearing these thong panties with frilly green lace, and it was cold out, so I'd bundled up that day. Tired of being pinched, or shedding layers of clothing to PROVE that I was wearing the required Celtic-inspired garment, I just made a quick trip to the ladies' room and came back out with the thong on the OUTSIDE of my slacks. It made the rest of the board meeting a little uncomfortable, but I got my point across. All charges were later dropped...

On St. Patrick's day I spent the day in Boston attending all of the crazy festivities. I also had my entire face painted green.

Our family tradition is to make corned beef and cabbage for everyone who wants to come. This year I bought about 10lbs of corned beef which wound up for 3 people and one was a baby. She does have a good appetite though.

  34. Beeb Ashcroft said on 4.3.09 at 3:12 pm

My craziest St. Patrick's Day experience was a few years ago when I went out on the town with some friends. Everyone we met was three sheets to the wind (naturally), and we had a drunk guy yell at us, then become our best buddy and insist we follow him to another bar through some bizarre alleyway shortcut, promising to buy us all drinks once we got there. He disappeared immediately.

  35. Beeb Ashcroft said on 4.3.09 at 3:13 pm

What did I do for St. Patrick's Day this year? Worked!

  36. Erin A said on 4.3.09 at 10:37 pm

This year, we invited friends over for grilled food, beer, etc.. my husband passed out in the back yard face-first in the grass!

  40. Jessi said on 4.5.09 at 4:01 pm

This year, I was home with kids, so I just made it an "everything green" sort of day. We had green eggs with breakfast and green mashed potatoes at supper time. There was a bit of leprechaun and St. Patty's Day history talk, too. :)

It's nothing exciting or crazy, unfortunately, but hey, they had a blast with it! lol

  41. Connor said on 4.6.09 at 4:16 am

I had corned beef, then I went to work. But thats O.K., I try to make a bit of every day St.Patty's Day. LOL
