WeReward, a mobile incentive platform that pays consumers cash for the actions they take in the real world, officially unveils its Android application today. The new application offers enhancements aimed at advertisers and consumers and comes one month after the launch of the original iPhone version.
“Consumers have been begging for an Android OS version of WeReward since its launch,” said Ted Murphy, CEO of IZEA, parent company of WeReward. “We wanted to respond quickly by providing them with an application with that has enhanced features, including some that are not currently available in the iPhone version.”
WeReward now offers a mobile client for approximately 40 percent of the smart phone market. By making the platform available to the Android, WeReward enters into the fastest growing OS among smart phones, with nearly 10 percent market share at the end of Q1 2010. BlackBerry users can also expect to have the access to the WeReward application within the next eight weeks, giving WeReward the ability to tap into 75 percent of the total mobile marketplace.
The WeReward Android application brings expanded social features, allowing users to see who has frequented a location along with the images captured at that business.
“People enjoy discovering new places to eat, shop and have fun,” said Murphy. “When customers share the great experiences that they are having with a product or business, the probability of additional exposure and organic word-of-mouth marketing increases significantly. With this additional exposure, advertisers can further leverage the WeReward platform and drive new customers from a heightened social media presence.”
Android users can download the application from the Android Market on their mobile device. Advertisers can visit www.wereward.com to claim their business.

I've been using the app for a little while, thanks for letting me into the Alpha. I really wish there were more places up my way where I could get some real decent rewards. I'm learning the system and apparently overusing it because I didn't wait 15 minutes between check ins. I am getting many of my local companies on the "map" so to speak. Can't wait to see this take off near me.

Waiting on the Blackberry OS version, come on, hurry up with the Blackberry version so I don't have to be left out of this IZEA service.

Searching for both Wereward and Izea are not bringing it up for me. Have they been removed for some reason?
