Hello PayPerPost patrons. Today we’ll be releasing a change later on this afternoon that we hope will knock your socks off. The system is now going to fully support multiple links per post requirements. Let’s take a tour!
Advertisers will have 2 ways of setting up links on their opportunities. The old way that we’ve always had is now going to be called the “single link” option.

This will be the default method for adding links to opportunities. Posts will be randomly assigned a single link from the list of URLs when an offer is made. The blogger will be required to embed this single link, and the system will validate that the one link is embedded correctly when they submit their post.
This option also allows the advertiser to manually customize which link gets assigned to which blog while they make offers.

Now, let’s review the new alternative way to set up links using the “multiple link” option. Advertisers can specify the multi-link option in step 3 when they add links. They can add up to 3 links using this option. All the links in the list will be required in every post that is submitted to the opportunity.

The advertiser won’t be able to manually edit any link assignments when making offers. Remember all of the links will be required in every post.

So, by now I bet some of the bloggers are wondering “how does this affect my experience?” The first neat addition is on the leads page. You will be shown up front the number of required links. No more guessing games when it comes to negotiating your price. Isn’t that neat?

That’s not the only change that bloggers will notice. Under the opportunities tab, when you have an offer for a multi-link opp, you will see a page that looks similar to this:

We’ve moved the link info into what should be a foolproof copy/paste text area. If you’re required to use more than one link, you will see a list of the links that you are required to embed in your post. We’ve also upgraded the library we use to validate these links. The spacing issues we’ve experienced (extra spaces in the post’s HTML) should not be a problem with the link validations after we release the new code.
Also, when dealing with multi-link opps, we’ve made sure the validation is explicit. If we can’t validate one of the required links, we’ll make sure to point out which one you need to fix.

I hope this set of changes works well for both Advertisers and Bloggers. Please feel free to holler at us if you have any feedback. You can leave us a comment here or you can always click the little “Feedback” tab within your PPP account.

I can see it now. Requirements will be ridiculous and prices will be lower than ever. I don't see in this walk-through how bloggers can set their price for additional links. Are Advertisers required to pay for each link or can they start throwing out offers like 50 words; 10 links; $1.00?

You can negotiate prices under the leads tab. This was added in our last release, I believe some time in December.

You have a button to negotiate the price. Whatever you put in that box will be the amount you get if the advertiser decides he or she wants to make the offer.

It always has been, and always will be the advertisers responsibility to use the system as it was designed. You can pay attention to the advertiser's score to see how they have behaved in the past.

What happens to the existing opportunities. Do we advertisers have to re-create them?

I am happy I will be able to see the number of links up front. It will help be decline the unreasonable offers that much faster -- which will be good, if as everybody says, there are suddenly more of them. ;)
I suspect some advertisers will try to take advantage, but if we turn down the opps, they'll get the message.

This gives more flexibility to the advertiser and allows bloggers to negotiate their rates based on multiple links. I think a negotiate button should be allowed in the opportunities area if you are given a "multi link assignment" or the blog settings area should include a "price per link" like it does for "price per post" and "price per word" so that you can tailor your blog price according to the number of links the advertiser wants.
Like have a base of $5 or $10, with an additional $2 per link over the first one, some sort of setting like that would be ideal.

Los Angeles Insurance: The old opps will be considered single link opps, we can't extract and parse multiple link requirements keyed in manually into the requirements field. So, unfortunately the existing opps with multiple links specified in the requirements section will stay as "single link opps" and the requirements will be shown as is. Moving forward, all new opps should be created with the new options.
Thanks for the comments both to Quilly and Dragon Blogger. Both very good points! You know I like to keep my ear to the ground to hear what the opinions are. We may have to make some more tweaks to get it closer to perfection!
Well, I'm just about ready to press the button and get these changes going :)...

SEO tips: Right now if an offer is made without going through the leads generation/negotiation process, the offer cost is calculated as the blogger's set price per post + (number of words required * price per word). But if you negotiate through the leads feature, the blogger will have the chance to change their price. I've gotten a lot of blogger feedback on this aspect and I think it's likely we will have to make some adjustments since this seems to unfairly favor the advertiser.
r.k.sundararajan: You can go to http://payperpost.com to sign up for a blogger account. Once you are in, you can add your blogs to the system, and find more info in our get satisfaction online help forum. http://getsatisfaction.com/izea/products/izea_payperpostv40

Err, how many words are limited? I mean, how is the maximum words? Is it limited only for 200 words, or I can write more to gain more earnings?
Thanks.

Okay, silly question here. How do you all handle the link only opps. Do you simply create a post with just the link in the post and no words, which seems silly to give it a post. I have a 3 link opp and I haven't accepted yet because I'm not really sure what is expected as I've never done one without words :)
