IZEA Holdings, Inc. (IZEA:OTCBB), a world leader in social media sponsorships, today announced it has acquired Germany’s Magpie Twitter advertising network. The cash plus stock transaction will enable IZEA to expand its social media sponsorship operations in Europe through Magpie’s client base, while giving Magpie’s existing advertisers access to a larger global audience.
Launched in October 2008, Magpie was the first Twitter advertising network. The Magpie network includes over 12,000 advertisers and 16,000 Twitter publishers in 124 different countries. The company has executed campaigns for top brands including Burger King, Heineken, Playstation and Audi.
“This acquisition increases the international reach of our network and unlocks new advertiser relationships for our company,” said Ted Murphy, CEO of IZEA. “This is an excellent opportunity for us to expand our social media sponsorship footprint. We are delighted to acquire Magpie’s advertising network and welcome their users to the IZEA family.”
Users of Magpie’s technology will be migrated to IZEA’s own Twitter advertising platform SponsoredTweets.com, the leading platform for sponsorship of individual Twitter users. The transition is expected to be completed in July.
“IZEA pioneered the social media sponsorship space and has handled more transactions than anyone else in the business,” said Jan Schulz-Hofen, CEO of Magpie & Friends, Ltd. “IZEA profoundly understands what Magpie is about and shares the same values and ideals, especially when it comes to ethics and responsibility towards tweeters, followers, and the Twitter ecosystem as a whole. The acquisition of Magpie should create more opportunities for both sides of the marketplace.”

What’s going to happen to Magpie accounts for those of us who’s Magpie accounts use the same twitter account as their Sponsored Tweets? Also would like to know if we’ll be able to keep the money we’ve made but not cashed out?
@Faith – Money will be transferred from Magpie accounts to Sponsored Tweets accounts.
Everyone’s balances will be transferred. If you’ve been using Magpie *and* Sponsored Tweets before, your Magpie balance will be added on top of your balance at Sponsored Tweets.
Is it possible to change currency to Euro as every European will lose money if we only recive offers in USD and have to cover cost of exchange on our own?
Congrads, you guys are on a roll. I stopped using MagPie becuase they expected you to leave thier paid tweets up for life.
Will there be a change to that policy one of the best things about ST is if the ad is not paying is can be deleted. Leaving MP tweets up for life can make your feed look spammy.
Msut be nice dude.

Huh. Well… I guess I need to wait-and-see before commenting on this. But “IZEA profoundly understands what Magpie is about and shares the same values and ideals, especially when it comes to ethics and responsibility towards tweeters, followers, and the Twitter ecosystem as a whole” is just baffling.
I have a hard time not liking something Ted does – I’ve been a hard-core Izea fan for a long time now. But unless one or the other company has changed radically in the past year, or one is going to, I can’t see how the “save values and ideals” part applies.
Congrats to you both. Hope it works out for the best!
wowie! looks like this December we are gonna have a Grand Party eh??
So what’s the extra features for us??
